IEEE 1580 Type P Cables
Type P Rig Cables are specifically designed for installation and use in harsh environments found within offshore and onshore drilling rigs. These extreme environments may include severe cold, high heat, constant vibration, drilling mud, mechanical stress, and salt corrosion. As reliability on drilling rigs is a must, it is necessary to have IEEE 1580 Type P cables in stock which conform to strict standards and approvals. Offshore applicable standards include IEEE 1580 (Construction & Performance), UL 1309 (Construction & Performance), IEEE 45.8 (Installation on Shipboard) and API 14F/FZ (Installation on Floating Facilities). For land applicable standards, operators use API 14F as their guide but IEEE 2740 will be the standard for land rigs.
